1st of June 2007:

This year the Children’s Day was planned as usual, with lots of excitement and positive thoughts from us. However, there was a problem with the location: besides the Children’s Balloon in Herastrau we did not have a place that would accommodate so many children. The surprise came from the Mogosoaia City Hall which was organizing a children’s camp so in the last moment we decided to organize OBDO there. It was an effort and a mobilization greater than usual because of the change of plans. After 6 hours of packing and sorting 100 presents we arrived at Mogosoaia Lake. There, near the palace, was the medieval camp organized bythe Mogosoaia City Hallfor the International Children’s Day. The 3 buses and cars that transported the children arrived at about 1 o’clock. A fairy-tale world welcomed the children, who couldn’t decide what to do first. Some preferred to go horseback riding. Others wanted to watch knights dueling or an experienced man making pottery. Face painting was a huge success, as well as the actors performing children plays on the stage. All around, fabulous things were to be seen: ladies of the court, concerts, angels, laughter, painted little faces and carriage rides. The few raindrops wiped the painted noses but not the smile off the children’s faces who were stunned by all the things that had happened. Because a Children’s Day would have been plain without presents, all of the 100 children who joined us were offered toys and sweets to make the day just perfect.

What started as a hectic morning turned out to be a beautiful and emotional day because our efforts have been highly rewarded. And for all this we would like to thank you.
